Neighborly Love: Devices That Work Together  – The brief was to pick some thing or things that we interact with on a regular basis and create a wholly new way to specify/control/trigger/accomplish that interaction. The goal was to craft a brand-consistent user experience that employed a distributed collection of tiny screens (www.sifteo.com), equipped with sensors for juxtaposition, orientation, shakes, and screen presses.

Letting Go and Taking Control– In this project, the basic charge was the same as in Letting Go – create and flesh out a compelling story about a new way to control a familiar device, system, or service. However, in this assignment, the technologies were unlimited (always a mixed blessing) and even more futuristic. The challenge was to look at a whole user experience and make the overall story exhibit consistency, simplicity, and elegance.

New Arrivals – This brief looked broadly at acquisitions – it could be a purchase coming home, a device being relocated, or subscribing to a new service. Projects formulated and demonstrated reframings of the experience of new things, while investigating how branding, design, and recognizable interaction modes can be employed to ease transitions.

The Gathering: Strength in Numbers – Almost in spite of our rising level of apparent connectedness and extensive social networks, being together often seems a lot less intimate and special than in years past. The task here was to create a compelling and productive, or a fun and delightful, experience for a gathering of people, technologies, or both.
