IKEA MATE

IKEA’s goal is to create a better everyday life for many people. However, at home, during selfassembly, that brand message breaks down. Where the IKEA was once associated with good design and value, it is now associated with difficulty and frustration. With keeping the price point of the furniture the primary concern, IKEA MATE was designed to reintroduce the positive elements of the brand at the point where customers feel the most strain. IKEA MATE was comprised of an in-store QR code informing the customer of the assembly process to come, and inbox item map to help organize and identify pieces, and a voiceactivated assembly guide to help keep attention on the task at hand. By managing expectations and repositioning information, IKEA MATE helps make the furniture assembly experience as fluid as possible.
